Our Team

As a broker for 11 years with Mikels and Jones Properties in Raleigh, Bert worked on a multitude of different commercial real estate projects, specializing in raw land development and sales of unique infill locations, value-add opportunities,  and income-producing assets.

In 2022, he started Nowell Investment Real Estate while earning his MS in Real Estate Development and Finance from Georgetown University, graduating with distinction.

Bert offers expertise in real estate syndication, from finding and vetting investment opportunities to pooling funds and maximizing the property’s returns.

Bert is originally from Wilson, NC and received his BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Bert enjoys time on the coast of North Carolina and has three children. Charlotte and identical twins Royce and W.R.

Ryan is back in Raleigh after managing real estate investments in Washington, D.C. where he worked at Colony Capital. As a senior analyst there, he was responsible for asset management of a $1.5 billion senior housing portfolio.

After Colony and prior to joining Nowell, Ryan worked at Liberty Investment Partners, a private investment firm in Raleigh. He focused on sourcing, underwriting and asset management of retail properties. Ryan led the acquisition of a $10.1 million shopping center in Richmond and the $8.2 million purchase of a medical and retail center in Yorktown, VA. Ryan is a broker at Nowell Investment Real Estate focusing on investment sales. He most recently facilitated the sale of a $6.3 million shopping center in Pinehurst, NC.

Ryan is a graduate of N.C. State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Ryan is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
